01 / THE STUDIO, YOUR WAY

Change the atmosphere

One workspace.
Nine different moods.

Choose from nine named colour themes, including Sakura Pink and Aquamarine. The same creative workspace takes on a whole new character, from quiet charcoal to deep forest green. Select any preview to view it larger.

The window icon and splash screen follow the selected theme. Original Sage uses the Forest splash. Real interface previews. Swipe sideways to explore all nine on smaller screens.

02 / CREATE WITHOUT THE TOOL SHUFFLE

A modern editing flow

Keep your ideas moving.
Not your tool selector.

Work directly with notes, regions and parameters in a unified editing environment. The aim is a more natural creative flow, without constantly switching between dedicated tools for every little action.

  • Audio & MIDI tracks
  • Timeline and region editing
  • Piano roll & velocity controls
  • Automation editing

03 / SHAPE EVERY DETAIL

Creative control

From a first idea to a world of sound.

Build layered arrangements, explore instruments and effects, and learn what changes when you move a fader, automate a parameter or route a signal differently. A broad sound palette, with the controls close to your hands.

  • Mixing and signal flow
  • VST3 instrument & effect browser
  • Device Rack / Chain / FX Layer
  • Samples and sound sources

FUNtasia Studio device rack with audio effects

Device Rack

05 / THEORY YOU CAN EXPLORE

Where sound meets understanding

Hear the theory.
Explore the possibilities.

Built-in learning views make scales, chords and voicings easier to investigate. Move between musical curiosity and hands-on practice, whether you're starting out or revisiting the fundamentals.

FUNtasia Studio scale browser interface

FUNtasia Studio voicing browser interface

Voicing Browser

FUNtasia Studio pedal harp feature

Pedal Harp

Explore a different instrumental perspective within the voicing and music-theory tools.

Why FUNtasia Studio exists

Opportunity to learn should not depend on what you can afford.

For a young person making their first track. For someone balancing an everyday budget. For someone who could afford expensive equipment but simply wants to learn. FUNtasia Studio opens the same learning environment to everyone, free of charge.

It is an educational and experimental space for studying masterclass materials and discovering how production works — not a promise of production-grade reliability.

Different circumstances. Equal curiosity. Equal access.

UPDATES THROUGH BETA 1.2.0 / DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS

GUI Harmony — a more cohesive creative workspace.

  • New in Beta 1.2.0 — GUI Harmony: Refined Original Sage, reduced decorative borders, and improved visual consistency across the arrangement view, Piano Roll, device browser and track controls.
  • New in Beta 1.2.0 — Deep Brown: Updated the theme with darker, less glaring colours. All nine colour themes remain available.
  • New in Beta 1.1.7 — Nine dark themes: Added Sakura Pink and Aquamarine to the existing seven palettes, with matching window, splash and optional shortcut icon assets.
  • New in Beta 1.1.7 — Piano-roll keyboard editing: Refined arrow-key note movement while preserving text-field keyboard focus.
  • New in Beta 1.1.2 — Automatic MIDI input enabling: Connected MIDI input devices are enabled on startup and when reconnected or powered on; inputs you manually disable stay disabled.
  • New in Beta 1.1.2 — Bounce/Undo safeguards: Completely empty MIDI regions are skipped before bouncing, and Undo restores selection more safely. The root cause of a previously reported crash is not yet confirmed.
  • Experimental Ruri-style chord notation: Extensions are expressed as degrees (9 → 2, 11 → 4, 13 → 6); for example, Cadd9 → 1^235 and Csus2 → 1^25. Available for exploration in the Key & Chord Guide, Scale/Voicing Browser, guitar fretboard and Chord Track, including input previews.
  • Piano roll & editing refinements: Improvements to MIDI note editing, multi-track and group operations, and velocity-based note audition with better note-off/gate behavior.
  • Mixer & device workflow: Add insert effects from the Mixer + control, access instrument interfaces from the Inspector, and reorder VST device cards.
  • Stability & focus refinements: Plug-in scanning no longer forces its window to stay on top; envelope and voice-stop behavior has been refined.
  • Voicing auditions: Hear chord voicings using the bundled FreePats guitar and concert-harp SFZ instruments.
  • 300 original one-bar drum fills: GM-compatible MIDI patterns covering 200 in 4/4 and 100 in 6/8.
  • Drum preview sounds: Choose Acoustic Lite or Electronic SFZ sounds and audition MIDI fills from the Sample Library Browser or FILES tab.

Ruri-style notation is an experimental introduction. The Bounce/Undo safeguards are not a guarantee against all crashes. This remains a learning-oriented pre-release, and features may continue to evolve.
